One of my local government clients are currently recruiting an experienced Programme Manageron a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Hybrid working role were, however, you will be required to attend the office 2/3 times a week.

Overview:

The Program Manager is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a comprehensive, outcome-led transformation program and coordinating a program of complex projects and changing management activities across the Environmental, Sustainability and Leisure departments.

The post holder will ensure the selection and framing of projects and other business-as-usual activities are structured into a program to deliver maximum benefit by using a planned, systematic and iterative approach and life cycle.

They will manage all aspects of program delivery from initiation to evaluation, including establishing appropriate governance structures, enabling effective decision making, initiating reporting structures, managing the program budget, and working closely with senior sponsors and stakeholders. They will set the standard in how programs are managed across the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a transformation programme that coordinates projects, and their interdependencies, in a way that ensures benefits realisation is maximised
  • Provide effective line management and matrix management of project staff deployed to support programme delivery (contract staff or those from other service areas).
  • Ensure allocation of common resources and skills within the programme's individual projects
  • Produce, gain approval of, refine and update business cases that justify the initiation and/or continuation of the programme (and/or the projects within them) in terms of the benefits, costs and risks
  • Design and plan a coherent and credible programme and proactively monitor its progress, resolving risks and issues and initiating appropriate corrective action
