Civils contractor engaged on multi-utility projects in London, encompassing new connections and utility diversions, requires a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial department.

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing financial and contractual aspects of utilities schemes.

The role:

  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
  • Negotiate and prepare contractual variations with clients
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyse project specifications
  • Prepare tender documentation
  • Dispute resolution
  • Track project changes and log variations
  • Assess subcontractor applications
  • Perform quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities
  • Monitor project costs, provide cost control measures, value works on site
  • Review and evaluate contractor bids and proposals
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost-effective solutions
  • Prepare monthly payment applications, CVRs, progress reports and financial statements
  • Prepare Early Warning Notice and Compensation Events
  • Maximise commercial opportunities for the company, whilst also minimising risks

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, within the utilities, highway or civil engineering sectors
  • Experience of NEC3 and JCT forms of contract
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations
  • Proficient in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in calculations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
