Our Business Development team are our route into some of the most interesting National security-critical projects and customers. Credited for creating opportunities for our teams of subject matter experts to apply their skills at the forefront of defence innovation, predominantly within Electronic Warfare, Digital Services and high-level Training Support.

We are looking for an astute networker to take up the reigns as Key Account Manager for one such interesting customer, for whom we significantly contribute to designing and developing conceptual models into the future of threat detection and countermeasures, influencing the EW domain.

Whilst our main hubs of engineering activity are at our Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire HQs, this role allows a highly flexible home-based working routine. Your travel schedule will be primarily client and partner focused in the South of England, to be a visible in-person contributor, and there could potentially be the odd international trip, too.

How you’ll support us

This pretty unique opportunity requires a credible individual who can embed themselves into our customer’s project and technical teams. To understand them, their goals and ambitions, their capabilities and limitations, and to translate that into tangible opportunities for our own teams to position solutions.

Your JD states that you will “develop and progress relationships with key partners, to determine and win business opportunities which lead to order generation and revenue, … To explore and develop areas of capability development, enabling sustainment of a market-leading position”, but that’s the ‘over-night’ success as a result of the many hidden layers of your carefully crafted research, exploration, networking, coaching, encouragement and persistence over time. Not forgetting the building and presenting of business cases, financial and management reporting, navigating bids and proposals, or the supporting of marketing and event activities.

You’ll take over and foster existing customer relationships, exploring untapped relationships, programmes and research activities, and work in partnership with our own leadership team on capitalising on this intel, in line with our own strategic ambitions.

The invaluable experience you’ll bring

In terms of what we need you to come with, we only have a couple of important asks. The main being that it’s essential that you have a working knowledge of the defence domain. With Joint Forces experience as an added bonus point, and theoretical or operational knowledge of Electronic Warfare as another.

Whilst these are pretty critical to the big picture, it would also be really useful if you have either worked in an environment directly driven by research and innovation, or if you have a successful exposure to consultative Business Development or Account Management.

Our non-negotiables:

Due to the highly secure nature of the projects that you will be involved with, you must be:

  • A UK National and eligible to work in the UK
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a UK Government Developed Vetting clearance
