Permanent September 2024 KS3 - GCSE English Teacher  (MPS or  UPS) is required for a successful SEN Provision in the Lewisham Borough.

SEN Provision located in the London Borough of Lewisham is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced English Teacher / teacher of English to join a successful department. The ideal Teacher of English / English teacher will have extensive experience working with students with SEN, particularly in the areas of ASD, SEMH, and Anxiety. This position is open for ECTs or experienced teachers.

You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing English lessons to students in KS3 and GCSE. Additionally, if you can offer a send subject this would be beneficial but not essential.

The size of your classes will be small, typically 5 - 8 children per class, each of which will be supported by at least 2 SEN TA’s. This will give you the opportunity to differentiate and to teach your students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.

Excellent ECT training and additionally great CPD for all teaching staff.

  • You have a UK recognised teaching qualification (ie PGCE/ SCITT/ Teach First / GTP/ Cert Ed/ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS))
  • Extensive experience working with students with SEN, particularly in the areas of ASD, SEMH, and Anxiety.
  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 and GCSE English curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting students with SEN to achieve their full potential.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to students in KS3 and GCSE, taking into account their individual needs and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to support students with SEN, including those with ASD, SEMH, and Anxiety.
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and supports students' emotional well-being.
  • Assess students' progress and provide regular feedback to students and their parents/carers.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the SEN Provision team to support the academic and social development of students with SEN.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, parent/carer meetings, and staff training sessions as required.
  • Able to commute to the London Borough of Lewisham
