Spencer Clarke Group have partnered with a highly respected London Borough Council to find an experienced and motivated Principal Solicitor to lead its dedicated Social Care Legal Team.

This pivotal leadership position involves overseeing complex and sensitive legal matters in both Children's and Adult Social Care, ensuring high standards of legal advice and service delivery across the Council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Specialist Lead Lawyer for all Social Care matters, covering both Children's and Adults' services.
  • Manage, supervise, and develop a team of 7-10 lawyers, ensuring high-quality and timely legal support.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on complex, high-profile, and sensitive Social Care cases.
  • Oversee and allocate caseloads effectively, ensuring compliance with deadlines and LEXCEL standards.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX entitled to practice in England and Wales.
  • Extensive experience in Social Care Law (Children's and Adults), ideally within local government.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal cases, advise senior stakeholders, and manage competing priorities.
