PRU SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Philosophy Education is working in partnership with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Haringey to recruit an experienced and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an urgent role requiring someone available to start immediately.

The Role

As an SEMH LSA, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Help pupils engage with learning and develop positive relationships.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to ensure effective support strategies are in place.
  • Use de-escalation and restorative approaches to manage challenging behaviour.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in a PRU, SEMH school, or with pupils with behavioural needs.
  • Demonstrates resilience, patience and strong behaviour management skills.
  • Can build trust and positive rapport with pupils who may have faced significant barriers to learning.
  • Is available for an immediate start.
