Islington Council is dedicated to achieving this vision by 2030, and we are looking for a passionate leader to join us on a temporary basis to lead our Private Sector Housing and Enforcement service.

Your Role: As the Private Housing Group Manager, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality and regulation of Islington's private rented sector. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhancing Property Management: Oversee the monitoring and registration of licensed premises, including Houses in Multiple Occupation and single occupancy dwellings, through our Mandatory, Additional, and Selective Licensing Schemes.
  • Revitalizing Empty Properties: Lead initiatives to bring vacant properties back into use, contributing to a more vibrant and accessible housing market.
  • Supporting Vulnerable Residents: Assist private residents in maintaining homes in good repair, ensuring they live in safe and comfortable conditions.
  • Securing and Leading Funded Projects: Bid for and manage externally funded projects and programmes that align with our housing objectives.
  • Administering Housing Grants: Effectively manage the distribution of disabled facilities and other housing-related grants.
  • Ensuring Tall Building Safety: Lead the Council's response to safety concerns in privately owned tall buildings.

Your Impact: You will manage multidisciplinary teams and key projects aimed at achieving our major service objectives for private rented housing. Your leadership will directly contribute to a safer, more regulated, and supportive housing environment for Islington's residents.
