We are currently partnering with a social housing provider based in East London which has been providing support for and helping homeless people for over 50 years.

We are recruiting on their behalf for a permanent full-time Senior Substance Misuse Worker position to start immediately. The role is 40 hours per week, working on a rota that includes a mixture of earlies and lates, including weekends (nights are not required).

Successful candidates must be subject to or hold an enhanced DBS and have the right to work within the UK (sponsorships will not be allowed)

The successful candidate will be working directly to stabilise challenging individuals, linking them to appropriate services to manage their substance intake, improving physical health and wellbeing. You will be prompting initiatives to lower support and independent living to achieve goals to service standards, aims, objectives and performance targets.

Day to day duties include:

  • Work together with vulnerable residents to provide and maintain a safe, supportive environment, encouraging independence in living
  • Uphold the organisations commitment to Equality of Opportunity, managing Diversity and safeguarding against abuse
  • Follow organisational Risk Management Policy, prepared for crisis situations
  • Contribute to the recovery hub, providing expertise for drug misuse, financial regulations, and delivering training when necessary
  • Interview new referrals, booking in residents, and establishing they meet project requirements; tracking progress is essential
  • Facilitate peer group activities for treatment services, and engage in supportive trusting relationships with professional integrity
  • Carry out assessments of alcohol / drug usage, delivering brief interventions when needed, and offering practical advice
  • Monitor vulnerable residents, managing medication
  • Undertake need and risk assessments, carrying out statistics for drug usage with key clients
