SEN Teaching Assistant

A vibrant and inclusive primary school near Chadwell Heath station, dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for all our pupils, are search for an SEN Teaching Assistant for September 2024 to work with a Year 4 child with Social and Communication Needs. The school are committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential through tailored support and innovative teaching methods.

Role Overview

Tradewind are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join the team. The successful candidate will work full-time, providing essential support to a student with Social and Communication Needs in their Year 4 class. This role is pivotal in helping children with additional needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

Individual Support: Assist students with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.

Classroom Assistance: Support the classroom teacher with lesson preparation, resource organization, and classroom management.

Progress Monitoring: Track and report on the progress of students with SEN, helping to tailor Education Healthcare Plans (EHCPs).

Inclusive Environment: Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment, promoting the school's ethos of respect and equality.

Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and external specialists to implement effective strategies and interventions.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably within a primary school setting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children's learning and development.

Desirable:

Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEN-specific training.

Knowledge of various SEN conditions and effective support strategies.
