Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with diverse needs? Our dynamic school community is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team.

About Us: At Empowering Learning we work alongside an Outstanding Special Secondary School, we prioritize inclusivity, empowerment, and individualized support for all our students. We cater to students whose primary presenting need is behavioural, including those with Demand Avoidance (PDA/EDA). Our commitment extends to students requiring an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)-specific approach to learning. We also serve pre-verbal students and those who rely on augmentative and alternative communication devices to express themselves effectively. Our curriculum is tailored to accommodate students working below the national curriculum level, such as those following P scales.

Position Overview: As an SEN Teacher you will play a pivotal role in creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment for our students. You will collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized education plans that address each student's unique needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering engaging lessons that align with each student's learning goals and abilities.
  • Implementing evidence-based ABA strategies to support positive behavior management and skill acquisition.
  • Utilizing augmentative and alternative communication methods to facilitate effective communication for non-verbal or pre-verbal students.
  • Tracking student progress and adjusting teaching strategies as needed to ensure continual growth and development.
  • Collaborating with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to promote a holistic approach to student support.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience working in an SEN setting.
  • Specialization or training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred.
  • Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and strategies.
  • Strong understanding of behavioural interventions and positive behaviour support techniques.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a reflective approach to teaching practice.
