Speech and Language Teaching Assistant | Southwark, SE1 | Daily Pay: £94-£105 per day | Full-time | Start Date: May 2024

Our partner school is eagerly seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant, or passionate recent Graduate, to provide 1:1 support to a young pupil. The pupil has speech and communication difficulties, and limited language skills, so this would be a great role for a Teaching Assistant with Speech and Language experience or a Graduate eager to pursue a career in Speech and Language Therapy. This great opportunity is available to start immediately, working long-term for the remainder of the academic year, and the potential of a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN
  • Supporting children with phonics and speech development
  • Leading individual and small group intervention sessions
  • Liaising with the SENCO and class teacher about the pupil's progress, keeping accurate reports regularly
  • Supporting the class teacher with managing class behaviour

The school are seeking candidates who:

  • Hold a relevant teaching qualification or a degree.
  • Has previous experience working in a primary school environment.
  • Speech and Language experience or training is desirable.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Are able to quickly build relationships with students and staff.
  • Is patient and nurturing with anyone they work with.
