Reed is recruiting on behalf of a mid-tier 16 Partner Firm who are seeking a Tax Assistant to join their Far East Department.

As a member of the Far East Department, you will be helping to assist in providing Tax services to a portfolio of clients, namely from China, who are doing business in the UK.

The teams is supported by a team of Mandarin/ Cantonese Speaking experts, knowledgeable in both UK and Far East Markets.

The team are looking for someone fluent in English and Mandarin or Cantonese to help expand their Tax services. The role will see you gaining exposure to both Personal and Corporate tax work and there is plenty of scope for future progression.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide technical support and research to deliver tax services, meeting the needs of Far East clients and liaising with the relevant Consultant/Partner.
  • Prepare personal tax returns for review and assist with basic tax planning, compliance matters, and client queries.
  • Draft correspondence to clients for review and gain an understanding of key tax principles.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of complete tax computations and returns for straightforward companies, ready for review.
  • Manage compliance administration and assist with quarterly and year-end processes.
  • Collaborate with the team to share knowledge and contribute to team goals.
  • Develop a specific area of technical expertise and begin building a professional network.
  • Support marketing and business development initiatives, identifying opportunities to offer additional services to clients.
  • Advocate the firm’s values and engage positively with the business.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and either Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • A proactive “can-do” attitude with a willingness to learn and support the team.
  • Developing technical knowledge and skills in tax compliance and an area of expertise.
  • Professional scepticism and an understanding of business risk.
  • Proficiency in business tools and IT.
  • Excellent communication, planning, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build relationships with peers internally and externally.
  • Strong client liaison skills and a commitment to delivering excellent client service.
  • Innovative and creative thinking to progress the business.
