Are you an expert in animal welfare with a wealth of experience in animal husbandry, technical procedures, and laboratory tasks? Join our client as a Group Leader where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of animal care and scientific excellence.

Role Overview:

As a Group Leader, you will leverage your extensive experience with multiple animal species across at least three operational areas or apply your expert knowledge in a specialised field. You will support, mentor, and train others, take ownership of projects from planning to completion, and assist your Group Leader with additional tasks. This role may involve working within an animal facility or laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of projects from start to completion.
  • Induct and maintain terminal and recovery anaesthesia, including pre and post-operative care.
  • Perform surgical techniques.
  • Demonstrate documented competencies across three or more operational areas, performing welfare and husbandry tasks unsupervised, including weekend work.
  • Deliver induction modules and take responsibility for new starters.
  • Perform regulated procedures across a range of species.
  • Hold significant experience in higher-level responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Home Office Personal Licence Holder with significant active use.
  • IAT Level 3 Diploma in Laboratory Animal Science and Technology or degree (or equivalent) level qualification in Biological Science/Animal Science.
  • Registered Animal Technologist (ideal).
  • Documented competence to work unsupervised with two or three species, in a minimum of three different operational areas.
  • Higher-level responsibility with significant active experience.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring other Animal Technicians.
  • Proactive approach to work, taking ownership of their own and others' learning and development.
  • Participation in a weekend working rota.
  • Own transport due to the rural location
