Site Assistant Job Description


Reports to: Premises Manager / Business Manager

Grade: L2 scale point 4-5

Working time: 37hours a week plus additional hours for lettings on a rota basis with the rest of the team

Purpose of Job

* To follow the instructions of the Premises Manager and Senior Site Assistant in maintaining the school in a good state of repair and appearance and ensuring the security, health and safety and cleanliness of the school.
* To ensure all tasks are carried out in compliance with MLT's Health and Safety policy and compliance requirements
* To participate fully in all aspects of the life of the school, maintaining good relationships with children, staff, parents and visitors and providing flexible support
* To carry out overtime on a rota basis to facilitate evening and weekend lettings


Main Accountabilities

* To support staff, students and other stakeholders by ensuring the facilities are maintained to a high standard
* To ensure the security of the buildings & grounds by reporting breaches of security to the Premises Manager & Business Manager and where possible make safe and secure in the short term
* Undertake general portage duties including moving furniture and equipment within school. Oversee and monitor delivery of any specialised activity
* Checking fire appliances and reporting defects to the Premises Manager
* Weekly testing of fire alarms
* Ensuring fire doors, fire escapes and corridors are left unobstructed and in good working order
* Reporting defective items and withdrawing defective equipment from use, pending repair.
* Supervise contractors to ensure jobs are carried out fully and compliant with MLT safeguarding protocols
* Painting, decorating and plumbing duties as required.
* Supporting the Senior site agent in maintaining the school grounds, including driving the school tractor
* Undertaking cleaning duties as required
* Frequent inspection and cleaning of toilets, replenishing supplies as required
* Removing offensive graffiti in accordance with school regulations
* Keeping drains and gullies free-flowing, including unblocking them
* Keeping paths, flower beds and grounds free from litter debris and weeds
* Ensuring locks, clocks, gates, bins and machinery are in good order
* Supervision of lettings when necessary, during which time you will be the main point of contact for hirers and visitors
* Carry out chief fire warden duties in the event of fire alarm sounding during supervision of lettings
* Appointed first aider to provide assistance as and when required at all times, including Lettings and school closure periods
* Undertaking DIY tasks in relation to repairs to buildings, furniture, fittings and equipment
* Attend training courses as required. Will be required to complete; First Aid, Working at Heights, asbestos Management, Legionella awareness, basic carpentry, plumbing
* Undertaking appropriate duties logged on Every Compliance and PPM schedule
* Out of hours support in the case of emergencies, as directed by Premises Manager and School Business Manager e.g clearing snow from the site
* To be a named keyholder and attend site out of hours where necessary
.


Flexibility
In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.
Such duties, however, will fall within the scope of the post, at the appropriate grade.
