A rare opportunity has arisen within a long established engineering company for a Health, Safety and Environmental Co-Ordinator to join their team.

The role requires preparing and conducting regular training sessions with shop floor employees to ensure they are kept up to date on policy and best practice and to organise regulatory checks for specialist activities.

Reporting to the General Manager your main duties will include to:

  • Promote a safety-first culture.
  • Promote the company's environmental objectives.
  • Liaise closely with the General Manager, Operations Manager, and functional team leaders to ensure risk assessments are up to date, understood and observed.
  • Ensure that the companies legal register is accurate and reflects its current activities.
  • Train employees in the requirements of legislation specific to their role.
  • Promote compliance of the company's requirements with contractors and visitors.
  • Constantly review and improve the company's approach to health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses and environmental non-conformities to ensure policies and procedures are constantly evolving.
  • Ensure HSE best practice is documented in safe systems of work, where this is applicable.
  • Maintain the company's electronic library of HSE documents.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • NEEBOSH general certificate.
  • A background in engineering, ideally in the foundry industry.
  • Science or Chemistry GCSE at grade C or above.
  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling projects.
  • Be comfortable dealing directly with employees of all levels.
  • Experience in a health and safety role.
  • Experience training and presenting in groups.
  • A high level of IT literacy - much of the role will involve creating and giving presentations.

You will be confident and be able to communicate at all levels, have excellent interpersonal skills, be self motivated and able to work to strict deadlines.
