The Rectory is an award winning boutique restaurant & hotel in the Cotswold village of Crudwell, near Malmesbury, with a sister gastro-pub, The Potting Shed, just across the road.

We have an excellent kitchen team, run by head chef Jake Simpson, which we would like to expand.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced junior sous chef to join the team, and help us drive things forward.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar restaurant, be interested in producing great food from the ground up (from in-house butchery to home-made ice creams), and be keen to be part of a growing team.

Experience at junior sous chef level is desirable, but we are happy to consider applications from strong chefs de partie ready to take the next step. The role involves running a section of the kitchen on a day to day basis, as well as supporting the head chef & sous chef in moving the kitchen forward – helping to enact and supervise fantastic food, excellent stock rotation, cleaning and hygiene practices, and train more junior members of staff. It will also involve running the kitchen from time to time in the absence of the head or sous chef.

The role is full-time and salaried for 48 hours but we can be flexible regarding days off, and can offer either a 4 or 5 day working week.

Our menu is focused on modern British food, in tune with both the locale and the seasons, with a dash of excitement from further afield. We use exceptional ingredients, from local game to the best Italian olive oil.

Accommodation available if requested. Share of service charge included in salary.

£37,000 per year before tips.

£39,500 per year with share of service charge.
