Your new companyHays are working exclusively with a company based in Malvern who are looking to welcome an accounts assistant to their finance team. Your new role

  • Review supplier invoice e-mail address daily, extracting these for processing.
  • Timely scanning and entry of supplier invoices to accounting system, following a defined process for matching invoices to purchase orders and goods/service receipts in Sage.
  • Ensuring appropriate coding of invoices to nominal ledger codes.
  • Resolution of supplier invoice queries directly with suppliers
  • Supplier set-ups - responsible for maintenance of finance aspects including bank details.
  • Maintenance of accurate supplier ledgers
  • Checking of supplier statements and requesting copies if required.
  • E-mailing remittance advices to suppliers.
  • Preparing sales ledger invoices for review by the Finance Manager, emailing them to the customer and posting them in Sage.
  • Expenses checking and processing, utilising dedicated expenses software.
  • Process bank entries in Sage 200 and carry out bank reconciliations.
  • Weekly and ad-hoc credit control activity by email and telephone, emailing statements and ensuring appropriate liaison with Finance Manager.
  • Providing sales and purchase ledger cover within the finance team.

What you'll need to succeed

  • AAT qualified / part-qualified or other relevant qualifications such as in accountancy or business.
  • Experience of using Sage / Sage 200.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing or engineering-based business.
  • Can adapt to alternative ways of working, whilst also seeking opportunities to add-value to the business from previous work experience.
  • Experience working in a similar finance position.
