General Manager

Reed are pleased to be able to bring you a new role with our esteemed client within the industrial training sector. This business is a major global player in providing training facilities for huge manual sectors like, oil and gas, wind, and power, utilities etc.

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to make a strategic hire with a new addition to their General Management team, covering teams in Manchester, Glasgow and Barnet. Working closely with the director teams, the goal of this role is to lead the operational and performance growth of your branches, within a new acquisition.

This leadership role will see you supporting the integration of procedures and cultural values of the wider business into the new acquisition, creating a powerhouse for excellence in the delivery of utility training packages to their major B2B customers.

In addition to supporting the growth of business within their current revenue streams, there is a big opportunity for someone to come in and grow the business in identified new areas.

Duties

  • Using weekly / monthly KPI’s to ensure that the business is performing in line with business expectations
  • Commercially astute to interface with clients and understand the local market and training requirements
  • Proven track record of delivering sales and profit growth
  • Lead purchase price reductions for local suppliers
  • Operational experience to understand and deliver cost of sales savings, through efficiency, trainer utilisation and cost control
  • Proven experience of reducing non-value-added activities through collective process mapping and project leading improvement activities
  • Structured plans to reduce administrative costs within the business
  • Build long term, trusting relationships with shareholders, business partners and authorities
  • Understanding of course fill and full rates to drive profitability within the business unit
  • Manage the introduction of new products to expand offering
  • Account management for key accounts within region
  • Managing the client and consumer experience within centres to maximise stickiness of returning delegates
  • Using past course trends and future forecasting to ensure appropriate resource levels and course availability to ensure maximise revenue streams
  • Understand the requirements of Client, Customer and Consumer needs to ensure that
  • Pre, On and Post course experience is World Class and demonstrate measures to track progress
  • Direct P&L responsibilities for the company’s financial performance and capital investments
  • Think clearly under pressure and act in a sociably responsible way
  • The job holder is expected to be flexible and undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job, and that are within their competence, when required.

About You

  • Significant experience in similar role with at least 5 years in senior management within Engineering, Utilities or Commercial Training Management
  • Ideally industry experience in Gas and Power
  • Significant experience with P&L management and responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial sales growth
  • Training background desirable
  • High level of commercial awareness with a focus on achieving results
