About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Executive to lead their organisation with integrity, compassion, and purpose. The CEO will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of the charity, ensuring alignment with its mission, values, and strategic goals. Working closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees, the CEO will play a key role in shaping the future of the charity and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Inspire and motivate staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality support and services.
  • Collaborate with the Board to define and uphold the charity’s values, ethos, vision, and mission.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build an inclusive and supportive environment that attracts and retains talented individuals.

Operational Management

  • Ensure effective management structures and systems are in place to support strategic delivery.
  • Oversee the development and review of operational and business plans.
  • Monitor performance against strategic objectives and report regularly to the Board.
  • Lead on recruitment, development, and performance management of senior staff.
  • Conduct biannual job consultations and annual appraisals with the senior management team.
  • Act as the Data Security and Protection Lead, following guidance.

Finance & Risk

  • Oversee financial health and sustainability, including income and expenditure monitoring.
  • Ensure robust risk management practices are in place and regularly reviewed.

Governance & Compliance

  • Support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
  • Provide timely, honest, and relevant advice and information to Trustees.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate regular reviews of governance structures and instruments.
  • Maintain clear documentation of delegated authority and reporting procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Promote effective communication within the charity and with external stakeholders.
  • Enhance the charity’s public profile and build strong relationships with commissioners, regulators, funders, and beneficiaries.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms to capture the views of supported individuals and inform future development.
  • Monitor external trends and advise the Board on potential impacts and opportunities.

Board Support

  • Ensure the Board receives high-quality information and policy proposals to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Chair to plan Board agendas and ensure focus on governance.
  • Maintain a constructive relationship with the Chair, including regular one-to-one meetings.
  • Support the Board in assessing its performance and identifying skills gaps.
