Side Street and The Dome represent Manchester's most dynamic hospitality destination at the heart of ABC Buildings. Together, we're a multi-format venue operation seamlessly transitioning from morning coffee culture to late-night programming across café, restaurant, bar lounge, and event spaces.
Side Street is the public social hub of the ABC ecosystem a carefully curated all-day venue where creative professionals, local residents, and cultural enthusiasts gather. The Dome provides our dedicated events capability, hosting everything from corporate functions to cultural activations.

The RoleWe're seeking an exceptionalDeputy General Managerto work alongside our GM in leading operations across both venues. This is a senior leadership position requiring someone who can command respect, drive standards, and thrive in the complexity of a multi-revenue stream operation.
You'll be the operational backbone ensuring flawless execution across all dayparts, managing a diverse team, and delivering the elevated experience our members and guests expect. When the GM is off-site, you're in charge. When they're present, you're their strategic partner.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day operations across café, restaurant, bar, lounge, and events spaces
- Lead daypart transitions ensuring atmospheric shifts feel natural and intentional
- Maintain service standards across all touchpoints (counter service, table service, events)
- Drive compliance across licensing, health & safety, food hygiene, and operational policies
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 20+ across FOH, bar, and kitchen
- Build a high-performance culture that balances hospitality excellence with commercial awareness
- Manage rotas, training programmes, and performance management
- Foster an environment where people want to stay and grow
Multi-Revenue Excellence
- Balance competing priorities across daytime workspace culture and evening social dining
- Support events delivery across The Dome and Side Street programming
- Work with the GM on commercial strategy, covering analysis, menu development, and margin management
- Adapt quickly to operational challenges staffing gaps, supplier issues, last-minute event changes
Cultural Programming & Member Relations
- Execute ABC-initiated programming and building-wide events
- Ensure ABC Members Club integration and elevated member service
- Support the delivery of weekly vinyl/DJ sessions and monthly curated events
- Act as the face of the operation when hosting industry events and partner activations
Essential Experience
- 5+ yearsin senior hospitality management (Deputy GM or Junior GM level minimum)
- Proven track record in high-volume, multi-format operations (£1m+ turnover)
- Experience managing across multiple revenue streams (café, restaurant, bar, events)
- Strong people leadership you've built, trained, and retained great teams
