Principal Advisor for APSE Energy - An Opportunity within the Public Sector

About You…

Do you have knowledge and / or experience of energy, climate change and sustainability related work?

Do you have excellent communication skills, able to work with people at all levels?

Do you have analytical or operational skills that can help shape ideas and service transformation in the public sector?

Are you passionate about helping local public services decarbonise and move towards renewable energy? If so, you could be the person we are looking for!

We are recruiting for someone to play a key role in the expansion of APSE Energy which is a service provided by the Association of Public Service Excellence, a unique not-for-profit organisation that delivers support, advice and projects for our client local councils. The right candidate will:

  • Engage with our existing membership (Councils), supporting their needs;
  • Be able to generate new members and maintain relationships with them;
  • Have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills;
  • Have strong knowledge of the public sector and ideally local government;
  • Ideally have knowledge of energy, climate change or sustainability from a corporate perspective
  • Travel as required to meet and work with members;
  • Be personable and able to listen to our public sector clients and translate their requirements into action.

About the work…

We are a busy organisation and we expect a lot from our staff. In return you will be enthused by many opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge in the field of renewable energy and climate issues, honing research and engaging with like-minded people across local government and partner organisations. You will:-

  • Facilitate networking and information sharing;
  • Provide support in the form of answers to specific queries and writing briefing notes;
  • Research and disseminate findings across the sector through reports, newsletters and articles;
  • Develop and deliver seminars, roundtables and events across the UK;
  • Champion local councils for resources and support in decarbonising energy and tackling climate change;
  • Be responsible for initiating and managing projects;
  • Maintain and expand the membership network.
