Our client is seeking a Senior Estimator with experience in planned refurbishment works, particularly kitchens and bathrooms, to join their commercial team in Manchester. This is a crucial role that will see you working closely with the Pre-Construction and Operations teams to produce accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for social housing refurbishment schemes. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of SOR (Schedule of Rates), and a proven background in estimating for similar works.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for kitchen and bathroom refurbishment projects, often within live residential environments.

  • Interpreting tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to develop cost plans.

  • Working with SOR (Schedule of Rates) frameworks and pricing models relevant to social housing.

  • Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate quotations.

  • Identifying risks and value engineering opportunities in tender submissions.

  • Supporting bid submissions and participating in client presentations and clarifications.

  • Collaborating with the operational and commercial teams during pre- and post-tender phases.

  • Managing multiple tenders concurrently and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Assisting with framework applications and pricing exercises for long-term contracts.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within refurbishment, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms.

  • Strong knowledge of SOR frameworks (e.g. NHF) and social housing requirements.

  • Experience estimating works in live, occupied residential environments.

  • High attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.

  • Proficient in using estimating software (e.g., ConQuest or Causeway) and Excel.

  • Good communication and team collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage your own workload and work under pressure.

  • A relevant qualification in construction, estimating, or quantity surveying (HNC/HND/Degree).

You'll receive a competitive salary of 60,000 - 70,000, plus a full benefits package including car allowance, private healthcare, pension, and generous annual leave.
