Job Title: Transport Planner

Location: Trafford Park
Salary: 35,000 - 40,000 (depending on experience)
Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri (9-7:00/ 10-8:00)

About the Role

A leading UK logistics and distribution business specialising in the General Haulage/ Pallet Network sectors, are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join the team in Trafford Park. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong planning and organisational skills who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for planning and optimising transport operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and schedule daily transport operations, ensuring vehicles and drivers are effectively allocated.
Monitor driver hours and compliance with transport legislation and company policies.
React to changes and challenges in real time, updating plans as required.
Liaise with drivers, customers, and colleagues to ensure smooth running of operations.
Optimise vehicle utilisation and routing to achieve cost savings and service excellence.
Maintain accurate records and complete required administration.
Support the wider transport team with projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience in a transport planning role (essential).
General Haulage or Pallet Network experience
Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements (Driver Hours, WTD, etc.).
Strong IT skills, including transport planning systems and MS Office.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and adapt quickly to change.
Strong organisational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
