About the Role
A well-regarded and progressive college in Marlborough is expanding its IT team and is now hiring multiple IT Technicians to support the day-to-day running of the college’s IT services.
These are hands-on roles focused primarily on 1st and 2nd line support, while also offering the opportunity to assist with wider network and infrastructure projects under the guidance of senior technical staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide prompt and effective 1st and 2nd line support to staff and students – via ticketing system, phone, and in person.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
- Set up, configure, and maintain user accounts, devices, and printers.
- Support the administration of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and basic network services (DNS, DHCP).
- Assist with maintaining and monitoring the college’s network infrastructure – including switches, wireless access points, and cabling.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior members of the team as required.
- Support IT asset management, inventory tracking, and device imaging.
- Take part in project work such as system upgrades, installations, and audits.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in an IT support role – ideally within a 1st or 2nd line capacity.
- Solid understanding of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office applications, and Microsoft 365.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and independently, as well as part of a team.
- Keen to learn and grow within a technical environment.
Desirable:
- Experience working in an educational or public sector environment.
- Exposure to Active Directory, Group Policy, or device management tools.
- Knowledge of ticketing systems (e.g. Freshservice, ServiceNow, Spiceworks).
- Driving licence (due to the possibility of multi-site support).
