You will have product management experience and/or knowledge of our products with a passion for education.

As our Product Manager you will use your passion for education, commercial acumen, matrix management and stakeholder engagement skills in this wide-reaching position of influence.

Define the strategy and road map for a portfolio products, working alongside a newly created subject support team who will help provide the development and subject insights needed.

At AQA, we're focussed on understanding our customers better than anyone else and delivering the support they need, including exciting new products. Because of this, we're investing in several additional roles in our Product Management teams.

Purpose

Working in Product Management you will be accountable for managing our product portfolios to meet our objectives; setting the product value proposition and ensuring the product's success commercially. You will work with all parts of our Customer and Product directorate and across the wider AQA to achieve this. The driver will come from a variety of sources including customer insight and market opportunities, innovation from internal and external stakeholders and influencers.

As a Product Manager, you will work with a wide range of internal stakeholders helping to design, create and market our Portfolio products (we define product as the qualification and anything that directly supports it). You will bring to life the original vision of the product, communicating it to your colleagues at every stage of the process whilst considering the best design, its marketability and whether it suits the specified target demographic. Ensuring you set the product value proposition and ensuring the products commercial success.

You will be supported by the Head of Product Portfolio, this this will be a key role in delivering our strategy for growth for AQAs portfolio of qualifications and support material.


What you will do

  • Lead the management and development of an assigned portfolio of products within AQA, including prioritisation and oversight of activity for the products within your portfolio.
  • Working across AQA's portfolio of qualifications, you'll be using data and insights to create recommendations for quarterly, annual, and medium-term plans.
  • You must be able to understand and synthesise data and information from different sources to make recommendations and initiate activities that drive change and improve our offer, both in terms of the qualifications themselves and the training, support and resources that support schools and colleges in their delivery.
  • You'll liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of planned activities, tracking and reporting on delivery to ensure things happen on time and on budget.
  • Managing and delivering strategic projects to time and on budget.
  • Where needed and in conjunction with the Subject Support teams, you'll be the representing AQAs portfolio of subjects, attending conferences, exhibitions and stakeholder visits.

What you need to succeed

  • You'll need a commercial mindset and knowledge of product management and marketing.
  • Strategic planning and operational delivery expertise
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and challenge effectively at all levels.
  • Able and willing to constructively challenge the thinking of others and influence stakeholders.
  • Interpret quantitative and qualitative information to support sound decision making.
  • You will be systematic and well organised as you'll be scheduling and tracking delivery of activities.
