With a reputation for excellence and a commitment to quality, our client is seeking a dynamic individual to join their team in Milton Keynes.

Role Overview: As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (QS) / Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting the successful delivery of projects, from initial estimation through to final account. Working closely with the Senior QS and Estimators, you will assist in managing costs, ensuring projects are completed within budgetary constraints, and contributing to the overall success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely cost estimates for both commercial and residential projects.
  • Support the Senior QS and Estimators in monitoring project costs, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Collaborate with the project team to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
  • Assist in the procurement process, including subcontractor selection and negotiation.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to project costs and contracts.
  • Provide support in preparing monthly valuations and financial reports.
  • Contribute to the resolution of commercial issues as they arise during the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze data effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as Excel and estimating software.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field would be advantageous.
