Dunbar Education is currently seeking a dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a leading provider of educational support, we are committed to ensuring every child receives the care and assistance they need to thrive in their learning environment.

Role Overview: The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have a diverse range of needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), non-verbal communication, and require assistance with personal care. Your role will be pivotal in providing tailored support to facilitate their educational journey and enhance their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to pupils with complex needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and engagement in learning activities.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, in accordance with individual care plans and school policies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to implement personalised learning strategies and promote inclusive practices within the classroom.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting independence, self-esteem, and social interaction.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, behaviour, and any incidents.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a care home setting would be considered advantageous.
  • Previous experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable but not essential.
  • Possession of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Availability for full-time employment; part-time applications will not be considered.
