Prospero Teaching are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistants to inspire and support EYFS pupils in one of our excellent Primary Schools in Ashington. The role is to start either ASAP or from September 2024, depending on the availability of the successful candidates.

The role will involve working with pupils in Nursery and EYFS on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups. The role will also involve working with pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour, so the successful candidates will need to be resilient practitioners and have excellent relationship-building skills.

The School has both full-time and part-time roles available, ranging from 2 to 5 days per week depending on the availability and preference of the successful candidates. For the right candidates, there is the strong possibility of the role becoming permanent. The hours of work for the role will be 08.30-16.00, but half-day roles are also available, for either work in the Morning or Afternoon.

The role will involve supporting the pupils with their learning and communicating effectively with Class Teachers to ensure appropriate strategies are used that are suited to the individual needs and learning styles of the pupils to allow them to engage with their learning and make excellent progress.

This role will involve:

  • Supporting EYFS pupils with challenging behaviour and SEND on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
  • Building positive relationships with Class Teachers to support pupils and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress.
  • Preparing resources for lessons.
  • Supervising pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
  • Having a "hands on" approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form a positive rapport with pupils.

This role requires:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • A Level 3 Childcare-based or Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Knowledge of and a passion for the EYFS.
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students. Again, this is not essential.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
  • An enthusiastic approach and a willingness to engage with and form positive relationships with pupils.
