Cover supervision is an excellent career choice for those who aren't qualified teachers but wish to work in the classroom with children.If you've done cover supervision work before, then you'll be aware of the variety this role offers without any of the responsibilities attached to a full-time teaching role. If you haven't worked as cover supervisor before but have experience of delivering lessons to groups or whole classes and would benefit from the flexibility that cover supervision can provide, then this could be an ideal opportunity for you.The key to being a successful cover supervisor is your ability to engage the children in their learning for the day and to ensure they remain on task. All work is set and so no previous knowledge of a particular subject is required. However, a good understanding of the core subjects (Maths, English, Science) is advantageous.Cover teaching / supervision gives people who are passionate about working in classrooms the variety of experiencing different schools with students from varying backgrounds. If it's consistency that you're after consistent, then the long term and permanent opportunities are also available.You must have previous experience of working with students of secondary age (11-16) in either a classroom setting or organised activities. You will require an enhanced DBS.
