Our established client are recruiting for a full-time Residential Depty Manager based in Newcastle upon Tyne. The successful candidate will earn a basic salary of £30,075 (Plus on call allowance).

DESCRIPTION:

Established in 2006, our client is an organisation that provides services for Children and Young People with emotional and/or behaviour difficulties.

The organisation has two children’s homes just outside Newcastle City Centre and one within Northumberland.

Due to continued success the organisation is seeking to recruit an experienced Deputy Manager, to work in the specialist therapeutic intervention home in Newcastle (Gosforth). The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role

JOB ROLE (not limited to):

  • You will assist the Registered Manager in the planning and organisation of the residential home in providing a comprehensive range of residential childcare services of the highest professional standards.
  • Deputising the Registered manager in their absence.
  • You will work as part of a team and take a lead responsibility in key areas as designated by the Registered Manager and practice a mentoring role in relation to all staff within the team. The aim being to ensure the highest standards of physical, social and emotional care is offered for the individual development of the children/young people, exceeding the guidelines and standards expected by Ofsted.
  • The successful candidate will conduct him/herself at all times in a manner which is complimentary to the ideals, goals and expectations of a caring establishment.
  • To contribute as that of professional parent and to take a child centred approach to enable each child/young person to grow and develop healthily, promoting and maximising their educational opportunities and/or other achievements.
  • A vital part of your role will be providing the children/young people with emotional and social support, helping them to develop meaningful relationships with other children and adults as well as encouraging them to become involved with local communities.
  • You will ensure records and reports are kept regarding children/young people and that these reports are relevant, accurate and up to date.
  • This position requires a commitment to undertake training as required for the proper and full conduct of duties.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Extensive experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in Children’s Residential Care at a senior level.
  • NVQ 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s workforce or equivalent.
  • NVQ 5 qualification would be desirable although study towards this would be available.
  • You will possess good organisational and time management skills, with an ability to take responsibility for own workload and work independently as well as part of team.
  • Possess the ability to assist in the co-ordination, preparation, implementation and evaluation of individual programs and care plans etc in consultation with other fieldwork staff, and to liaise with other child care professionals and agencies as necessary.
  • Be able to follow company procedures and policies, concerning staff holiday, hours worked, sickness absence, overtime, health and safety, confidentiality, etc.
  • Be flexible to work on an on-call basis to cover staff at short falls and/or operational emergencies.
