Deputy Manager for Children Home

Location: Newcastle

Established in 2006, our client is a renowned organisation dedicated to providing services for Children and Young People with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. As a specialist in offering high-quality services to children, young people, and their families, our client is committed to dedication, professionalism, and continuous staff development.

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Deputy Manager to join our Children Home in Newcastle. You will play a critical role in supporting the Registered Manager in planning and organising the residential home to provide a comprehensive range of childcare services of the highest professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in the daily operations and deputise in their absence.
  • Lead and mentor the team, ensuring the highest standards of physical, social, and emotional care for the children and young people.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual care plans in collaboration with fieldwork staff and other child care professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports concerning the children and young people.
  • Provide emotional and social support to the children and young people, fostering meaningful relationships and encouraging community involvement.
  • Follow company procedures and policies, including staff holidays, sickness absence, overtime, health and safety, and confidentiality.
  • Be flexible to work on an on-call basis to cover staff shortages and operational emergencies.
  • Commit to ongoing training and development as required for the role.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in Children Residential Care at a senior level.
  • NVQ 3 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  • NVQ 5 qualification would be desirable although study towards this would be available.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in coordinating, preparing, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with other child care professionals and agencies.
