Our client is a reputable subcontractor specialising in M&E and other construction sectors. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join the team in the North East.

Job Description: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of projects from inception through to completion. Your primary responsibilities will include cost estimation, contract management, and financial reporting, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
  • Contract Management: Administer contracts, including tendering, negotiation, and management of subcontractor agreements.
  • Financial Reporting: Monitor and report on project costs and progress, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Value Engineering: Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or performance.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential financial risks associated with projects.
  • Variations and Claims: Manage variations to contracts and prepare claims for additional work.
  • Procurement: Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best value for materials and services.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies.
  • Final Accounts: Prepare and agree on final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the subcontracting sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, QS software).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
