Position Overview: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our residential developments. You will be responsible for cost planning, budgeting, and contract administration, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantity surveying within the house-building sector and excellent analytical and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Planning and Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for residential projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
  • Value Engineering: Conduct regular cost reviews and value engineering assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Procurement Management: Manage the procurement process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs, tracking variations and ensuring that any changes are documented and agreed upon.
  • Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and verify that work is being completed to the required standards and within budget.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit interim valuations, final accounts, and cost reports to senior management and clients.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contractual Issues: Resolve any contractual or commercial issues that may arise, providing expert advice and support to the project team.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the house-building sector.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in quantity surveying software and MS Office applications.
  • Professional Qualifications: Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are highly desirable.
