Assistant Chef
ABOUT US:
Tantallon House Care Home is looking to recruit an Assistant Chef on a permanent basis with contracts for 20 hours.
Our contemporary and cutting-edge care home is based in North Berwick. We are proud to offer the following; Residential Care, Dementia Care, Nursing Care, Respite Care, Palliative Care and End of Life Care for up to 70 residents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSILBILITIES:
- As the assistant chef you will control and monitor the progress of junior members of staff and inform the head chef accordingly of any training required.
- You will maintain the standard of health and hygiene as instructed by head chef.
- Prepare special diet meals in accordance with instructions from care staff.
- Ensue high level of service for all meals.
- Complete all documents relating to HACCP.
- Ensure to report any defects to equipment to the home manager.
- Ensure high-quality food is prepared each day for the residents in line with their care plan.
- Assist the head chef with four weekly menu planning.
- Perform all standard duties and responsibilities when the head chef is not present.
- Carry out any reasonable duties requested by senior staff that will aid and assist the smooth running of the home.
ABOUT YOU:
- You have a kind and caring approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents.
- You have adequate knowledge of nutrition, allergens and dietary modification to meet the needs of the residents.
- You are experienced in working with fresh seasonal food, preparing and presenting a palatable menu that addresses the preferences of the residents.
- You are qualified to NVQ/ SVQ/ City & Guilds level with a current food hygiene level 3 certificate.
- You will have the ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home, confidently engaging with residents to create appetising menus
- You will be a natural leader with strong management and communication skills.
- You will have strong budget and P&L skills.
- You work well within a team, leading, motivating and supporting co-workers and acting as a role model in maintaining high standards through adherence with best practice.
- You will have the right to work within the UK.
