Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team and ensure the smooth operation of our recycling plant. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our machinery and equipment, optimising efficiency, and ensuring the safety of our operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on industrial machinery and equipment, including conveyors, shredders, crushers, and sorting systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to minimise downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to identify potential problems and address them proactively.
  • Collaborate with the production team to schedule maintenance activities and minimise disruptions to operations.
  • Implement safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and equipment performance.
  • Manage site spares and ensure availability of critical items across the site.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in maintenance and repair techniques.

Requirements:

  • A technical / engineering qualification, ideally apprentice trained with an HNC/NVQ or similar.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role in an industrial setting, preferably in the recycling or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.
