Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accurate payroll processing across a range of frequencies including weekly, monthly, and annually, tailored to individual client needs.
  • Maintain payroll records and manage employee lifecycle changes such as new starters, leavers, and statutory entitlements like SMP, SSP, and SPP.
  • Work closely with clients to verify payroll data, resolve queries, and ensure smooth and accurate service delivery.
  • Ensure timely submission of payroll information to HMRC, including FPS and EPS returns, as well as BACS payments.
  • Set up and close PAYE schemes as required and act as the main point of contact for any PAYE-related correspondence with HMRC.
  • Guarantee compliance with pension auto-enrolment duties, including calculating contributions and uploading data to pension portals.
  • Produce essential payroll documentation such as starter checklists, P45s, and P60s in line with regulatory deadlines.
  • Provide ongoing support to clients in managing and navigating their payroll systems and related processes.
  • Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients to address issues, updates, and ensure regulatory obligations are met.
  • Deliver end-to-end payroll services for a diverse client base, each with unique requirements and varying levels of complexity.

Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:

  • Holds a CIPP qualification or similar, with a solid background in UK payroll spanning 3 to 5 years
  • Previous experience within a payroll bureau or accountancy setting would be a strong advantage
  • IT skills with the confidence to pick up new software and systems efficiently
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator, both in writing and verbally
  • Enjoys working collaboratively with others but can also operate independently when needed
