Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a fit-out contractor in Northampton

They specialise in internal and external construction services and offer their clients a one stop shop.

You will enjoy working across a variety of sectors: Education, hospitality, retail, industrial, education and civil and new build up to circa 2m in value.

In this role you will receive full support from their Commercial Manager and Senior Quantity and will enjoy working as part of a dedicated Quantity Surveying team.

You will assist in the management and control of costs associated with construction projects.

Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.

Perform take-offs and measurements from drawings to aid in the estimation process.

Assist in the analysis of construction costs and preparation of cost reports.

Conduct research to gather data on labour costs.

Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely cost tracking.

Assist in the valuation of monthly/ fortnightly applications.

Site visits and inspections as required.

Support the resolution of contractual and commercial issues.

Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Requirements:

  • You will have 6 months plus experience working as a Trainee or Assistant Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • You will have completed or will be part way through a relevant construction qualification.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft programmes I.e. Word, Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
