Senior / Lead DevOps Engineer - AWS - Build DevOps from Scratch - Norwich

I’m working with a small entrepreneurial organisation (300+ employees) who are part of a global brand, to recruit a Senior DevOps Engineer to help them establish their DevOps approach from the ground up. They currently outsource their infrastructure and are bringing it back in-house and migrating everything to AWS and introducing a DevOps automation approach.

As their first DevOps hire, they need a Senior DevOps Engineer with more than 5 years experience to lead projects and bring new ideas. Bonus points if you have built a DevOps process from scratch previously and / or defined and delivered a Cloud Migration (AWS).

This will be a great role for a Senior DevOps Engineer who wants to work on greenfield projects and build a small team in the future. We are looking for someone bright who can learn quickly and is happy taking on more responsibility as they grow in the role. This will be a long term, multi-year project with a phased approach and you will not be expected to deliver everything on day one.

You will help to define the tools they are using but are likely to require skills and experience in most of the following:

• AWS (including EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, and IAM
• Terraform
• Ansible
• Expert level proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash
• Defining and building CI/CD workflows and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
• Monitoring and log management using the ELK stack or similar tools
• Strategic planning and problem-solving skills.

Desirable skills

• Integrating Kubernetes and Docker into existing systems
• Elastic solutions to optimise data analytics.
• Networking protocols and tools
• Experience in a high-growth company / industry to understand the unique challenges this presents.

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 + benefits
