Technical Author & Compliance Officer

Join a leading machinery manufacturing business and fabrication workshop, renowned for their innovative solutions and precision engineering.  They specialise in the design and production of high-quality machinery, and they serve a wide range of industries worldwide. 

As Technical Author & Compliance Officer you will create clear and concise documentation for their machinery and products.  This is a brand-new position created by the business as part of their ongoing commitment to excellence and company growth.  

The company are also committed to develop this role further and enhance the responsibilities of the chosen person through comprehensive training in Health & Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Machinery Safety, Pre-Delivery Inspections, EN1090 requirements, and Risk Assessments.

As Technical Author & Compliance Officer your responsibilities will include:

  • Writing, editing, and updating manuals, user guides, and other technical documents to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Utilising CAD drawings, sketches, engineering schematics, and other technical sources to create comprehensible and user-friendly content.  
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and service teams to ensure documentation accurately reflects product specifications and operational procedures.  
  • Ensuring all technical documentation and equipment complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain documentation project timelines and deliverables, ensuring timely completion within set deadlines.  
  • Continuously update and improve documentation in response to product modifications, customer feedback, and regulatory changes.
  • Use a variety of documentation tools and software to create professional-quality documents.  
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of the document management system.
  • Manage, develop, and coordinate the company Quality Management System (QMS)

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Author, Technical Writer, or similar role, preferably in the machinery manufacturing, fabrication or engineering sector.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Can translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation that meets the needs of their diverse customers.
  • Proficient in the use of technical documentation tools and software.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to machinery manufacturing and/or fabrication processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ideally, some working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • A proactive team player with the ability to also work independently.
