SEN Teacher Looked after Children

Look no further as a great opportunity has just become available! gap healthcare are currently on the lookout for passionate and motivated SEN Teacher Looked after children to support learning and development in an educational setting for looked after children located near to Loddon, Norfolk.

As a SEN Teacher Looked after children you will support pupils and act a learning mentor whilst helping deliver the curriculum within a classroom setting. You will be supporting the Head of Education with the curriculum for the young person’s in our care as well as teaching your own timetabled lessons and supporting other teaching and non-teaching staff.

Responsibilities – SEN Teacher Looked after children

  • Leading by example and providing inspiration and motivation for others in order to create a shared culture and positive climate
  • Supporting the training, monitoring, assessment and development of looked after children.
  • Motivating and empowering all looked after children to achieve.
  • Contributing to development planning, review and self-evaluation processes.
  • Having a working understanding of Learning and National Curriculum.
  • Developing a curriculum appropriate to each pupil’s experience, interests, aptitudes and stage of development and in accordance with the perceived needs of children.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the curriculum and its assessment.
  • Maintaining a positive climate which ensures high quality teaching and successful learning.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the standards of learning and quality of teaching and achievement of all students.
  • Maintaining the principle of assessment for learning and the effective use of the student performance data in order to set and meet challenging and realistic targets for improvement.
  • To co-ordinate and advise on aspects of the curriculum in any cross-curricular or multi-disciplinary approach

Skills Required – SEN Teacher Looked after children

  • Enthusiasm
  • Imagination
  • Qualified Teacher status and initial or post-graduate educational qualification
  • Initial or higher degree or relevant higher qualification
  • Successful experience with children displaying social, emotional and behavioural.
  • An awareness of the requirements of working in a residential care setting that is the child’s home.
  • Competent and well versed in curriculum development work, across the curriculum.
  • An understanding of the issues around dealing with children displaying social, emotional and behavioural problems
