The Role

Electrical Engineer for developing engineering software products for the design and analysis of electric machines and electrified powertrains. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to developing first class engineering software products in a leading global provider of engineering solutions. The Person

Key Responsibilities:

·Develop first class engineering software products

·Development and implementation of high-fidelity mathematical analysis methods in C# code with a particular focus on electric machines

·Ongoing development and maintenance of quality software products

·The opportunity to get involved in research style projects and publication of related papers

·The opportunity to get involved in engineering services projects

·Keep up to date and compliant with all relevant legislation and company policies and procedures, with particular attention to the requirements of ‘Information Security’ and ‘Quality’ practices

Essential Skills and Experience:

·PhD in electrical engineering, physics or similar discipline

·A first or upper second-class degree at undergraduate level in electrical engineering, physics or similar discipline

·Knowledge of electric machines, preferably within the automotive industry

·Experience of programming

·Strong research skills with the ability to research a technical topic to a deep level with minimum supervision

·Good communication and personal skills

·Problem solving skills

·Attention to detail

·Advanced technical skills

·The ability to work in a team and individually

Desirable Skills and Experience:

·Experience using one or more of the existing commercial electric machine analysis software tools, for example ANSYS MotorCAD, ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, Altair Flux, MagNet…

·Strong theoretical knowledge of the analysis of electric machines for electromagnetics and/or thermal

·Knowledge of the mechanical and controls aspects of electric machines

·Knowledge of the analysis fidelity options for electric machines and their advantages, disadvantages, and limitations, for example 2D vs 3D analysis

·Knowledge of mechanical and electric powertrains and their components

·Design experience for electric machines

·Testing experience for electric machines

·Knowledge and understanding of finite element solvers

·Multi Body Dynamics Simulation

·Numerical analysis

·Optimisation

·Commercial C# experience

·.Net experience

·• Experience of agile development
