Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager ensures efficient shop floor operations. You will lead the Operations Support Team, optimising processes, and resources to meet company goals. Maintaining quality standards, ensuring customer compliance, and fostering a safe working environment are key. The role requires promoting good industrial relations, teamwork, and flexibility to meet customer demands. Experience in fabrication and Precision engineering is essential.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Identify and address inefficiencies in manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Mentor and develop the production team to meet operational and customer requirements.
  • Enhance operational performance using the ERP system, ensuring quality and delivery standards.
  • Maintain and audit quality standards, resolving non-conformance issues promptly.
  • Set targets aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Implement continuous improvement techniques like TPM, 6S, and Kaizen.
  • Use OEE techniques to optimise labour efficiency.
  • Manage productivity, overtime, and holiday coverage to ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure 100% On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery to customers.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage business risks to meet sales targets.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.

Quality Standards

  • Support quality control and assurance procedures.
  • Promote a right-first-time culture.

Communications

  • Conduct daily and weekly production meetings and reviews.
  • Liaise with customers regarding deliveries and progress.
  • Provide progress reports to the Managing Director.

Service Management

  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies and legislative requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement and lead by example with a strong work ethic.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior staff.
