Empowering Learning are looking for a SEND Teacher to work in a Special Educational Needs School in an amazing setting in the East Midlands. The ideal candidate should have QTS, experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and SEMH knowledge though this is not essential.

We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers. We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher who would be excited to teach a modified curriculum to amazing group of individuals, throughout key stages, 3, 4 and 5.

The ideal candidate will:

  • QTS or QTLS
  • Have the ability to teach pupils with SEND
  • Knowledge of secondary age curriculum expectations
  • Be able to teach a variety of subject including English and Maths
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching a variety of subjects to SEND pupils
  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
  • Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
  • Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
  • Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
  • Possible supervising on lunch and break times
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Building relationships with staff and pupils
  • Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
  • Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
  • To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
  • Potentially lead in a subject area
  • Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carers
