My Client, a well-established SME now has an excellent opportunity for a Stock Controller / Purchasing Assistant to join their team near Oldham. This is a great role for candidates who enjoy a diverse role.

Overview:

As a Stock Controller / Purchasing Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing inventory to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for overseeing the movement, storage, and tracking of food products within the warehouse facilities. You will also you will support the procurement of high-quality food products to meet customer demand while ensuring competitive pricing. Your keen attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the seamless flow of goods and the success of our distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Stock Control

  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records, both at site and with external contractors.
  • Oversee quarterly stock checks internally and externally.
  • Generate reports on stock levels, order status, and inventory performance for management review.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, shipments, and adjustments.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of incoming products.
  • Monitor inventory turnover rates and take proactive measures to address slow-moving or obsolete items.

Purchasing

  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials, packaging and finished products to ensure adequate availability to meet production or customer demand.
  • Analyse inventory data, including stock turnover and lead times, to forecast future stock needs and identify trends or patterns.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding order placement, delivery schedules, pricing negotiations, and any other relevant inquiries or discrepancies that arise.
  • Input and maintain accurate records, including purchase orders, inventory details, delivery receipts, and supplier contracts.
  • Maintain accurate supplier information, including new supplier set up and updating supplier information in the procurement system.
  • Ensure that all documentation is properly filed and organized for easy retrieval.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in inventory control and / or purchasing.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Sales, Finance, Logistic and Quality departments.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
