We provide a definitive range of services to the UK building and construction industry covering civil & structural engineering, building & quantity surveying, clerk of works, project management, employers agent, architecture, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, building information modelling, development monitoring, expert witness, fire consultancy, party wall and health & safety.

The role:

You’ll provide general financial support to the Finance team whilst studying for a Level 3 AAT Assistant Accountant Apprentice qualification. You’ll work within our Finance team supporting accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and processes. You’ll help maintain the integrity of information in the financial system.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Assisting with the production of the management accounts, including supporting others to monitor expenditure, investigate variances and update financial forecasts
  2. Assisting with the preparation of reports to budget holders on a regular basis to assist them in effectively managing their allocated funds
  3. Assisting Purchase Ledger by liaising with colleagues and suppliers to ensure invoices are coded, registered and processed on time
  4. Maintaining a confidential filing system to ensure accurate, up to date information is available for the finance department
  5. Assisting with the checking of expense claims
  6. Recording cash received onto our financial system; Sage 200
  7. Contributing to ad-hoc and annual requests for financial information
  8. Undertaking other regular and ad hoc accounting and administration activities, as required
  9. Proactively participating in your own development plan as agreed with your line manager and training provider

What you’ll need:

Qualifications

  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at grade 4+ or C+

Knowledge

  • Confident user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • A basic knowledge of accounting and reconciliation would be useful but is not essential

Skills

  • Professional, proactive and receptive to constructive feedback
  • Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail
  • Good time management skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work using own initiative
