Community Outreach WorkerFull time (37 hours)Fixed-term  Salary: £26,000The main purpose of the job:   As a Youth Worker on employment reintegration, you will play a pivotal role in assisting unemployed youth in overcoming barriers to employment and successfully reintegrating them into the workforce. You will provide guidance, support, and mentorship to help them develop essential skills and find suitable job opportunities.The Youth Worker will be required to develop and deliver a new high-quality good work Bromley careers programme in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, and partner organisation, supporting DWP Universal Credit customers. This dedicated role will work with DWP Work Coaches, Partners and the College Skills Team to deliver a highly effective and independent career guidance service. Applicants will be qualified and experienced in career work having achieved a Level 3 Information Advice and Guidance. This post will be reporting to the project manager you are required to develop and deliver a new high-quality programme in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and partner organisations, supporting DWP Universal Credit customers. These dedicated roles will work with DWP Work Coaches and the College Skills Team to deliver a highly effective and independent career guidance service. Applicants will be qualified and experienced in the welfare-to-work industry. This is a dedicated role for the support and delivery of the new Good Work Bromley Project programme in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, supporting DWP Universal Credit customers. The post-holder will work with DWP Work Coaches and the College careers IAG team to deliver a high-quality, impartial, independent and professional service. The core elements of career guidance, are to be delivered in person and remotely, and the development of personalised action plans for young people to support them into a positive destination.Duties and ResponsibilitiesYouth Workers would be required to develop and deliver high-quality Information, Advice and Guidance with a student-first approach with the College.The role includes the core elements of personal career guidance and the development of personalised action plans for young people to support them into a positive destination. In addition, other responsibilities include:
  • Working with customers to ensure the best outcome for the customer
  • Making referrals to the employability team running DWP opportunities, mentoring circles, sector-based work academies (SBWA) and other employability and career management skills development opportunities
  • Liaising with the college Business Development & Employability Teams for referrals to Employability, ESOL, Apprenticeships and other College courses, and to report back on activity to the Team leader & DWP
  • Managing an individual caseload and contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of this programme
The persons appointed will be required to work flexibly within a team environment and will be allocated a range of duties and responsibilities.  The post holders will work closely with the Directorate and other College staff and will be allocated a range of duties.  The duties allocated may be varied or changed by the line manager dependent on the needs of the service.Key Responsibilities
  • To hold significant knowledge of how to engage and develop a student’s vocational skills and personal social development
  • Be able to work towards a set of KPI’s in regard to progressing young people within their roles
  • Providing Work support to people
  • Carry out a Diagnostics Assessment to determine what level the young person is currently at.
  • To publicise our services by establishing contacts with local referral agencies in order to increase recruitment and retention
  • To maintain existing relationships and contracts to provide work placements for the young people who are not currently in work
  • Achieve a range of set quantitative and qualitative targets using a caseload management approach
  • Take a proactive and highly visible approach to developing working relationships with employers, including provision of feedback, agreeing priorities and reviewing arrangements.
