Import/Export Manager

My client, one of the UK’s leading companies in their field is recruiting an Import/Export Manager.A varied role from taking responsibility for overseeing compliance, keeping up to date with changing legislation, overseeing the export coordinators (3) and working on various projects.

Main Duties/responsibilities

·To take legal responsibility for full compliance with dangerous goods legislation and to complete regular legal reports for DGSA.

·Keep up to date with legislation changes relating to imports & exports and ensure this is reflected in processes and procedures.

·Responsible for processing and progressing customer orders, enquiries, and quotations in the Sage ERP X3 system, and maintaining up-to-date pricing.

·Maintain up-to-date commodity codes, liaising with suppliers.

·Creating shipping documents using Formwise – worldwide.

·Organising paperwork for imported products – worldwide.

·Finalise certificates of shipment and other documents as required.

·Organise shipments

·Support the Export team (3 team members) and provide training where necessary.

·To directly liaise with certain suppliers and distributors.

·To generate new export sales opportunities (not targeted)

·Attend industry exhibitions in the UK and Overseas.

·Provide monthly management report for Managing Director.

Supervisory responsibilities

Direct Line Management responsibility for the following role:

  • Import/Export Co-Ordinators (3)

Qualifications & Skills Required

·A minimum of 5 years experience and knowledge in a similar Import/Export role.

·Experience and knowledge of Dangerous Goods is highly desirable.

·Computer Literacy Skills – Microsoft Excel knowledge is essential and previous experience of Sage/Formwise systems is highly desirable.

·Good Customer Service skills.

·A degree in a business-related subject or similar would be advantageous.

·Relevant language skills would be a positive attribute.

·Positive team working experience.

·Good communication skills both verbal and written.

·Clear attention to detail.

·Proactive problem solver.

·Strong organisation skills.

·Ability to maintain electronic and physical records accurately and complete regular archiving.

·Ability to work on their own initiative.

·A driving licence is preferred.
