South Lakeland

Morgan Hunt is working with a Domestic Abuse charity based in South Lakeland, who are recruiting a Domestic Abuse Supported Accommodation Worker for a 4 week temporary period.

As a Domestic Abuse Supported Accommodation Worker you will work across different types of temporary accommodation and community settings to coordinate all services involved with a victim and survivor of domestic abuse. You will ensure they receive high quality, person centred domestic abuse support.

Other duties will involve;

  • Assess risk on an ongoing basis, carry out action planning, look at personal needs, make referrals to statutory and voluntary services to meet needs, assist with financial needs, budgeting, and benefit applications.
  • Offer practical support such as being able to use white goods in the accommodation.
  • Accompany service users to appointments with partner agencies i.e., banking, health professionals, housing.
  • Equip service users for move into more permanent housing and assist them with application for funds to set up their new home.
  • Ensure all the relevant services are in place to support service users to sustain their tenancies long term.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, factual and confidential client records.

The successful candidate will have;

  • Knowledge and the skills to manage challenging behaviour.
  • An understanding of the complexities of domestic abuse including drugs, alcohol, and mental health.
  • An understanding of equality and diversity.
  • Knowledge of the impact of loss and trauma.
  • Experience of working with partner agencies to improve outcomes.
  • The ability to assess, complete and review a need led plan.
  • Either hold or be willing to work towards obtaining a recognised Domestic Abuse organisation IDVA qualification.

Due to the nature of this role, a driving license is required along with a current Enhanced DBS dated in the last 12 months or on the update service.
