Locum Band 6/7 Paramedic - Hospital at Home Service - Peterborough
Position Overview:
Merco are looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Locum Band 6 Paramedic to assist a Hospital at Home Service team, based in Peterborough/North Cambridgeshire. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing patients referred to the service through various pathways (including ambulance stack), delivering appropriate treatments, and facilitating referrals back to General Practitioners/GP Out of Hours when necessary. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and promoting patient-centred care in the community.
Shifts
The service runs between the hours of 8:00-20:00 Monday-Sunday – please note, we are primarily looking for people who can assist on weekdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visit patients (all 18+) referred to the Hospital at Home Service.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' conditions.
- Develop and implement personalized care plans tailored to each patient's requirements.
- Administer treatments, medications, and interventions as prescribed, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their conditions, treatments, and self-management strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current HCPC Registration
- SystmOne Experience and an active smart card
- Previous Emergency, Urgent, or Primary Care experience
- Advanced clinical assessment module at level 6 minimum (Band 7)
- Minor illness module at level 6 minimum (Band 7)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and their families.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for home visits.
Pay Rates
Pay rates are between £29.84 - £52.00 depending on the day, and banding.
Mileage will be paid at 45p per mile.
