Vision for Education are looking to source a Tutor to work with residents in a prison for core subjects such as Maths and English.

About the role

We’re looking for a calm, patient Tutor to work with residents in a prison to teach them core skills in English, Maths and various other subjects. This will be a full time or part time role starting ASAP. The perfect candidate will be patient, have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, be flexible and open to change and have excellent verbal communication skills. This is a highly rewarding role, working with people who genuinely want to learn and see results. The successful candidate will need to undergo additional Ministry of Justice checks and be able to work with a flexible timetable and shifts.

About the school

This prison has an objective to provide a safe and secure living and working environment for residents in their care. They aim to reduce reoffending through the provision of a rehabilitative culture, offering education and training opportunities, together with support from agencies both within and outside the prison.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Prison Tutor you will:

  • Act as a positive role model to residents
  • Have an interest in the rehabilitation and resettlement of offenders
  • Experience of delivering lessons or supporting children and adults

Salary

£130 to £150 per day

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Be prepared to undergo an additional MOJ enhanced background check
  • Identify the needs of individuals in classes and groups and develop differentiated teaching methods and resources accordingly
  • Go through additional Ministry of Justice security checks
